After the success of my 2019 and 2020 year of stitches, I had to do another for 2021. This year however I wanted to adapt my style, I pre-designed a template that included the short month name within the divider, used a very light blue cotton fabric instead of white and decided to go bigger with my hoop. It's not too late to start your own hoop, and I have had a few requests to purchase this design, so I have listed it as digital download in my Etsy store here.
To get started you will need:
- Ruler
How to Set up:
1. Download the template and print in A3. Gather all your equipment and press your fabric.

2. Using a lightbox or a good light source, trace the design onto your fabric using a heat erasable pen. Use the ruler when transferring the lines.

3. Place the fabric into the embroidery hoop and tighten. Back Stitch the month names using 1 strand of embroidery thread/floss. Back Stitch the dividers and year using 2 strands of embroidery thread/floss. Use an iron to remove the pen from the hoop. You are now ready for your year of stitches!
How to Stitch Your Days:
1. I find it's good to start your stitches at one corner of the divider, usually I start at the top but it can be anywhere. For my stitches I tend to draw them out first using a heat erasable pen and then stitch using 1 or 2 strands of embroidery thread/floss.

2. To keep track of my stitches, I either use the Notes app on my phone or this year I have started using my bullet journal. This is especially handy if you are unable to do your stitch for the day and need to catch up at the end of the week.
