The must-have summer hair accessory that is super easy to sew!
Recently I took over the Hobbycraft Instagram account for a day, during this i showcased a number of my favourite sewing projects that I have created for them. I also wanted to create a new post to show in the stories, something simple and that would be easy to follow. I've seen hundreds of scrunchies in shops over the past few months so decided to create my own! Here is the tutorial that I showcased in the stories.

You will need:
- Sewing Machine
- 1 Fat Quarter
- 6mm Elastic
- Pins & Safety Pin
- Scissors or Rotary Cutter
- Ruler and Cutting Mat
Step 1:
Press and cut your fat quarter to a 3" x 14" piece.

Cut a 7" piece of elastic.

Step 2:
Right sides together, sew along the longest side of the fabric. Use a 1cm seam allowance.

Turn the fabric through, I use a chop stick to help with this part!

Step 3:
Grab your elastic and attach a safety pin to one end (this will help you pull it through the fabric).

Insert the elastic and pin to the other end of the fabric, this will keep the elastic in place.

Step 4:
Once you've threaded the elastic through, pin the two ends together.

Sew the elastic together, going over a few times to make sure the stitches are secure.

Step 5:
Fold over one end of the fabric, around 1cm and press. Place the other end inside.

Use a zig-zag stitch to secure the seam.

Finished! These scrunchies look great in any print or colour, I'll be making one to match every outfit.
